Stage 1 Researching to Environment

The environment i will be researching with be with a array of mediums winch include  Film, Fine Art, Animation.

The first environment i look at was going back in memory lane for me. when i was a child I was a very big fan of thomas the tank and there was one episode in particularly I remember cause of the environment is layout that make its a in my view. The episode was called the flying kipper
link to full epsode

Scene of the flying Kipper
The scene in particular is this one due to the fact it not only due to the fact that its not only a perfect representation of the sunrise in the middle of winter. It has a very over welling quietly to with the episode. Its really amazing  if you where to see this shot out of context you would think that this is a full working railway on an early Winter moaning. In my view this is a testament that would can make anything with simple model or toys .

The set of the of the original Thomas the tank engine series was created by the Rev W Ardry in the year 1940 as a children  book series entitled the railway series  (daily motion) The book series was created in to a Tv series in 1984 by the astute business women called Britt Allcoft acquired the television rights the railway series.( youtube documentray) The was directed   The lighting was dun by Terry Permane from clearwater film company. The style of animation they used was live action animation. Live action animation, this  is where the animator would have a model trains with plastic face o   with the eyes  fitted with small annarmotronics. These are used to  so  that the animator would have a small remote controls      still of the making on the Flying kipper            s imilar to a like u uses in R.c aeroplanes ( )

Noggin The Nog
Noggin the Nog was children's program made in in 1959 the Olivia Postage and Peter Fremen Smallfilms company.
The series is bases within viking times with the noggin king of the northmen.
The art work for the film was created by Peter fremen

October the 26th first meeting

Group

Sam Matthrews   head of art and design / modeler

Arran Dummer head technical supervisor /modeler

(me) Russell Pointer texture mapper? modeler

(This is not definite at the moment in time of its mite change)

The groups disions is to create a windmill due to the nechcail challenges to gain better experience  of working in machine in maya

I will be researching in to windmill to see how they both look and operate.

Windmills have been around long before the industrial revolution. Ever since the advent of wind power in sail boats.  From around 500-900A>D

The earliest known record of windmill as we know them today where from
china. The reson for this was that the earliest known documentation designs for windmills dates back to 1219 A.D by Chinese statesman Yehlu Chhu-Tshai. (http://www.telosnet.com/wind/early.html)

The first windmills where first design for grinding grain for flour. and pupping water for farming  (http://www.telosnet.com/wind/early.html)

How do wind mills work?

Windmill are powered by natural wind, however natural wind is too precarious and not constant and can be too slow. so the windmill using interconnected weal starting with one main weal in a vertical position and smaller connected ones. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFcnF1yS4o4)
also having mall waits

persian.bmp (27790 bytes)

This speed up the the grind or water pumps in the mill faster with very minimal rotation of the sail of the windmill.
this is demonstrated  in this clip i found on youtube

Consistent of lots of weal's gears and cogs rotating sharth

Windmills in Holland

The reson why they are so many windmills was due the fact that most of it was 6 meters below see level
and is continually pumped out around 300 years ago. they where put in for the conservation of farm land.

Primary research

I have visiting Meopham windmill  the reason for this is so i could do some primary research
studying textures and how its and overall look of how windmill work.

Meopham windmill was build in  was build in 1801 by James Killick wink was build by old ship timbers sold by Chatham dockyard. The windmill was build to a smock design.
A smock mill is a where the main body of the mill is static but only the cap winch is the is the top part of a wind in winch turns from side where ever the wind blows.
as demonstrated here

I found a very interesting diagram of the windmill of its internal structure winch I found very interesting

As you can see i have gone mad with the camera. taken picture of everything I could fine for ideas on  texturing for the environment later on

I will study how how brick fade with time and dirt intersecting them

Seeing how model and grim grow and merge in to the brick lad path ment on the out side of the windmill

Studying how the aged effect happen to wood on the walls through in rain

I will be trying to studying the textures and try to implement them into
                                           experiment

Inside the windmill

I managed to get some images inside the windmill. However I wasn't aloud to go upstair to see the internal machinery to something with due to health and safety. winch is a bit unfortunate because want much to see in the lower

Reflection
On reflection i very much enjoyed the trip down to Meopham windmill and i felt i could of dun more with in taken picture. The reason because on looking back at what i've taken the was so much unexplored territory. also not being able no go in the inner working of the windmill was a bit of a disappoint. tomorrow I will begins with some maya block out test to help me gain skill in maya.

2 november

first idea
Today i did some Maya test today making some basic cogs to get a better understanding in how to model on maya

I have been very interests in doing grass with in maya so I have been researching in to the fur tools of maya.

I found this tutorial very informative and tried some basic

i frist began with a basic plane

i then when on to the fur tool and attached a grass fur on to the plane

I then did i quicker renders test i rather like the result of this

ANI09205 Industry Exercises

ANI09205 Industry Exercises

The project I have chosen to do is the sky arts. The reson for this is I feel is will best help accommodate the skills i need move future understanding.

                                                            These goals are

1.  Compositing 3d modeling in to a life action background train to make them look as if they are in the
     same environment.

 2.  To be able to meet deadline for each stage of the project .

 3)  To be able to take criticism from my peers in class and take them in to account.

Stage 1. Research in to what Sky Arts is and what has been commission previously.

(I will underline key word that of interest that will inform my work)

Sky art is a cable a satellite Tv channel winch cover a hole array of the creative arts. Theses entail hight culture theater, classical opera and jazz performances,  Documentaries and movies.

History

Sky Arts was originally under the title of artsworld winch was part of the higher premium service winch meant you had to buy its on top of your normal Sky package. It own by a private partnership winch included Sir jeremy Isaacs.  sadly due to lack of funding the  and in july 2002 the a channel stage its own farewell party. This was an attempt to emergency funding. The  company that own the channel where facing closure.  Sky stepped in taking an initial 50% stake of the comapany then buy the the remaining  share of the company.  with the new owners of sky taken over soon after the premium fees short after to go on the basic package of the sky service.  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_Arts)

What sky has commissioned in the past in term of idents for sky arts seeing how this inform my work

Radium Audio Ltd - Sky Arts - Strings from Radium Audio Ltd on Vimeo.

Opinions

I don't thing much of this cause in my opinion its just putting spacial on for the sake of it.
However it is some what relevant to what sky arts as a channel is use the setting of a concert house.
From a technical it is very good.

Radium Audio Ltd - Sky Arts - Fruit from Radium Audio Ltd on Vimeo.

Opinions

I feel that this is some what erlervant to what sky art as a channel.  however its is very clever how they put a baby at the beginning of the first shot this is meant to show a baby logic. there a very child like innocent to it. for a technical stand point i thought the color where bright and out of place with the environment but this might be due to baby logic i stated early making thing more distinctive colors help.

Opinions

the ident is a good show of what sky arts is
i fine this some what generic ive scene so much of these long colored swirling things going in every direction before and in some way quite lazy. However the reconstraution of the art logo and all the banner and streamer is quite novel.

Radium Audio Ltd - Sky Arts - Chair from Radium Audio Ltd on Vimeo.

I fine this total irrelevant to me its doesn't say anything about sky arts or even the arts it is more random then anything.

                                                      Storyboard Time

1)
First basic idea i had i know the chroma keying is bad

Reflection my my first test

I fine the idea very basic and not very imaginative.

other people from call on youtube page

Second test I did was in after Effcts

My relfection

I feel this is very bland and unimagtive and some what pretenchess i try and carry on with this and see if anything coems of it.

new version of second idea

reflection

I did the same test again but with the camera rotating in an attempt to try and make more interesting. sadly that wasn't the case so i abandon the idea.

reflection

I fine this very one dimension both with drawing an idea but i feel i can do more with this so i will redo another version to see if anything come of it.

new train idea

I started a basic modelling test in my maya

I agree this is nothing fancy but it was to help me learn more model skill in working with curves.
reflection.

I fine this to be a very intivetive idea but i feel it a bit but and paste with having a train with having flying arts and crafts.

New idea with a cinema theme

Reflection

I find this idea to be some what random the i feel that the client of the sky company would not approve of this so there for the will be discarding it.

Mother bird idea

Here is a test of a mother bird coming back to her baby to then fine they have change in to the sky arts logo.

Reflections

I think this idea has potential I wish to continue with idea further,

Second storyboard of mother bird in better detail

I fell that this was too random and need to bee toat

stressstress ball idea

References 4 executive

A Newton's Cradle. Five metal balls in a row are suspended from a steel frame. When one ball is allowed to swing back and forth, it hits the others. Newton's Cradle is a popular demonstration of momentum.

I have a problem i have no knowledge to have reflective surfaces within maya.

How will i go about doing this

remote idea

researching in to the art movement

new idea having a man with hands with arts and crafts utensils instead of fingers

Inspired by the work of  Armcimboldo

Storyboard begin ideas to this

research in to  Armcimboldo
Giueppe Arcimboldo

How i will i achieve this i need to put computer generated objects in to a live action background and animate them in sync to the human hands.

I research online and i saw this plugin for motion caption on maya entitled Mayalive

Here a tutorials

I first found out that within the new maya 2011 its doesn't have maya live on its plugin list.
Fortunately i had a the progress version of maya 2010 install on my mac.

The idea character

I have a Problem I don't how to make the bristle on the how will I accretive this?
I spoke to a few of my colleagues and they advice me to look and the fur tool in maya.

I first look up on tutorial about the fur tool

I then made a flat plane after i added the fur tool to the plane then scaled it accordantly.

pencil early test
I started to better understanding the extrude tool with in my modelling .

i desided on having  Neo-expressionism theme for this idea
Research in to Neo-expressionism

Neo-Expressionism was a very big art movement within the mid 1980. It dominated most the Europe and the united states. Neo-Expressionism was mainly consisted of young arts who where human body and other recognizable object. This was a reaction to the over mass commercialization. The hallmark style of Neo-Expressionism is an blatant disregard of traditional design and composition. Also its representation of urban life and values and it use of in your face and wired arranged of clours. ( ) Also was also very misunderstood within the art buying public due to the fact that it was

The top artist of the day in this filed where the Italian Sandro Chia and Francesco Clemente,

Francessco Clemente was born in 1952. he was most renown for his expressionist and surreal references. He researched in to the human psychy through the aid of psychedelia and traveled to india to experience the Hindu spiritualists.

Within the early and late 1980s Francesco Clemente was part of a small group of Italian artist. There was a massive movement within this time winch first originated was refered to as Transavangurdia by the art critic Anchillie Bonito Ovliva. However it is know refers to as Neo expressionism. The forefront leaders of the neo expressionism movement are Georf Baselizt Anselm kiefer and Julian Schnable.

Examples of there work
